Welcome back to Issue 2 of The Monday Mowdown — your weekly lawn care newsletter. Let’s make this week count!
Here is your 1. action, 2. seasonal to-dos, and 3., a quote to fuel your week out on the lawn:
1 — Action
Today, Monday (Oct 13) looks like your power mowing window — sunshine, moderate temps, and low rain risk. Saturday and Sunday are solid backup days for mowing.
2 — Seasonal To-Dos
If your soil is dry enough, earlier in the week is better for fertilizing — the roots still have some metabolic activity to absorb nutrients. But: don’t fertilize if rain is coming within 24 hours (risk of wash-off).
Consider mulching leaves lightly over the grass rather than raking them all up — the decomposition adds organic matter (especially useful this time of year).
Blow or rake leaves off the turf surface — leaf mats trap moisture and invite disease.
3 — A Quote To Fuel Your Week
“Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go.” — Unknown
Let that be your lawn mantra: release the dead, sharpen the rest, and get ready for next spring.
That’s your 1-2-3 lawn routine this week. Time your mow smartly, fertilize wisely, and prep with care. Fall is the last push — small attention now pays off come spring.
Stay sharp,
Ben
